Missb hi I'm in a similar position to you I think but I'm stuck in UK. I was also considering moving embryos and contacted a courier company who specialise, but am not sure If their staff would be permitted to travel before the general population, as they hand carry. the issue is obv that we can't get there so if I had to wait till travel restrictions lifted to get embryos moved i may as well just go myself for transfer. Although this may rumble on for some time with restrictions being lifted and put back so this might be long term plan.

The company I contacted knew my clinic was in Greece and they didn't say anything about it not being allowed.
Id be gutted to not have transfer at  new life clinic, I really trust chrysa and Dr dovas but I also feel stuck! It's so frustrating xx

Update I've just heard back from company with a bit more info.let me know if it's ok to PM you MissB so I don't hijack the thread.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Hannx great to hear your doing well xx

Heres the latest update,I’m tentatively scheduled for an embryo transfer on the 15th of July, pending I can get a travel exemption granted to me from the Greek Consulate here in Texas. I’m truly starting to lose hope. We are now hearing that the EU is planning to announce a ban of all Americans on Monday. I sent Chrysa an email and told her that if this trip/cycle gets canceled and the EU bans us from entering then I was planning to ship the embryos here. She was very understanding and briefly explained the process to me. In the meantime, I’m continuing my meds and hoping to be in Greece in a couple of weeks. I truly only trust Dr Dovas and Chrysa, they have been so wonderful to me! I really hope I am granted the exemption to travel! This whole process has been so incredibly difficult and I’m trying to hold it together but it’s becoming harder and harder. 😔

Hi, sorry MissB I've been meaning to send you another msg after your last post. I will do later! And hope things have sorted from your side. Are you allowed to fly?
Katharina I can technically fly out as of 15th July, but I've taken decision to wait a month till August - I've been unwell with virus for the last month, docs suspect covid but tests were negative. It's a long story but I'm still not 100% and worried about jeapordising transfer if I've got some inflammation or immune response going on in my body. Which is so frustrating as I've been stuck here since lockdown dying to get going with treatment again!

Im not sure also how it will work with covid testing on arrival In Greece, it doesn't make sense when random testing to make people quarantine till results available, it's tricky then planning transfer - apparently the clinic plan in a few days wait time to progesterone timing, so even if I wasn't tested I'd still be sat in hotel room for few days.., which isn't ideal but better than nothing. I'm trying to remain hopeful but at the mo just want to get myself well to give it the best chance if and when I get there x

Hi ladies, I am one of the veterans here and have a baby boy from NL.

I read your posts and like to explain to you the random testing means if you arrive at Athens they can ask the whole or part of the flight (depends on no of passengers- 30-40 they can test all) to a room to get tested. You are then free to contine to your connection flight but required to stay 24h In Thessaloniki in the same address. If you turn positive they’ll call you and I can imagine either repeat or cancel treatment. If you don’t hear from them you are free to go after 24h from test time. If you arrive directly in Thessaloniki- sane rule.

In any case, you need to provide NL with negative recent test results prior to starting progesterone. So if you are negative you should be careful to stay that way. Then in all likelihood you’ll be ok at the Greek test, should you have it.

You should also arrive in Thessaloniki at least two days in advance. Just to be on the safe side.

The ban is on tourists, so if travelling for medical purpose (completion of fertility tx) you should able to obtain permission from the Greece Embassy at your country. Ask them what documents they need as soon as you know when you intend going. ( Around 2 weeks ahead)
Of course NL will help with providing letter to the embassy.

When the ban is lifted you don’t need the permission.

Good Luck !

Thanks Haley that's really helpful info. What worried me that I didn't mention, was something I read in small print from greek government travel guidelines that said you may be asked to self isolate if someone else on the flight tested positive who was on the plane! This seems crazy, and whilst I'm fairly confident it would be near impossible to enforce its worried me a bit.

I contacted the embassy on email to try to clarify this , but I just got generic response with a lot of links to diff websites with info.

Ps, I was tested as soon as I landed in Greece. I was not asked to self isolate. I did however make sure I had enough time in case I needed to isolate myself. I tested and they sent me on my way. I’m pretty sure I’m the ONLY American in Greece right now! 😂

I would contact them and ask - my BMI was 36 and I was able to cycle with them however 50 is quite high so you’d have to check with them x

So, here’s the latest update. I did my blood test today, I’ll get results tomorrow but I’m 99.9% certain it’s negative due to HPT being negative this morning 11dpt5dft. Pending all that, we have decided that both my son, 2.5 yr old, and myself will be flying back to Greece ASAP and just plan of staying for a month or two instead of traveling back and forth from Texas. It’s just too much money  and too much exposure to keep going back and forth. The downside is my husband will have to stay home for work. 😢 traveling that far on my own with my son is definitely going o be challenging! But I think once we get there it will be fun! If any of you ladies are there while I’m there, would love to meet up! Ps, I have 6 embryos left.
