Hi Im new here and thought Id introduce myself!!

Im 28 and have been married for 2 years, Dh and I have been trying for a family since our honeymoon and put the fact that it hasnt happened down to the stresses of life etc!!

We recently went to our gp, I had a blood test which came back that I was not ovulating dh has a semen test booked in a couple of weeks!!so we need to see what that says!!!
My gp will not do another blood test for 6 months  I dont know if this is normal but we feel its a very longtime to wait!!

Im looking forward to getting to know you all and am so pleased that I have someone to share this with and hopefully to gain some knowledge from!!

I am in the same situation as you    I went to GP in April as I suspected I might be the problem as my periods irregular (sometimes 38 - 55 days)  I asked for blood tests but was told it was not possible as they had no idea when to test me.  I went home feeling  but thought no I want weekly blood tests each month until AF arrives so i worked out a few dates and went back to see another GP who was better and carried out my request.  Most months I only needed 2 tests as af arrived so it wasn't too difficult!

The results were that only ovulated once which was last month - but they wanted DH to have a SA too and that came back with low motility results.  However they have put me on clomid from next cycle and are refering us to a specialist.

I would wait until you get DH's  results and if OK go back and mention Clomid - I find that if you know more they listen (at my GP's anyway!)  say you want further tests too.

Sarah, good luck with the clomid, I so hope it works for you.....!! I did mention it to my gp but he says he cant prescribe it!!! We are waiting to get DH's results and are considering going to see a guy calles Michael Dooley, privately in the 1st instance, I dont know if you have heard of him he is supposed to be one of the top fertility experts in the country!!!!! he prescribed clomid to my boss and she has 2 sets of twins now!!!!!! (i'm their nanny!).

We are in Dorset!!!
Her twins are 2 and 3 1/2 so very close together, she went through years of infertility so they give me faith that it WILL happen!!!!!

hi

the first time that i needed to undergo investigations was when i stopped having a cycle totally (at that time i hadnt even heard of something called pcos).. the GP immediately prescribes blood tests for me. he also asked me to book for a scan in the NHS. he also wrote a letter to a private consultant that i wanted to see.. so i has both private and NHS scans and they confirmed that i was polycystic...

maybe its better for you to stress your gp to provide a scan for you...hope that helped

Thanks, i think you are right need to be forceful with G.P  lol.
Failing that I may change GP's there is another surgery attatched to mine who I have been told is much better!!!!
I guess I just came away feeling like we had nowhere to go next!!!! I will get answers!!!
