Hi there

I have popped on here from time to time but now here to pick your brains if i may?

Went to cons yesterday as concerned that POF happenng at a young age may affect bones etc.  He said i did not need HRT at themoment as still having periods, even if they are irregular.  He mantioned that my latest oestrodial was fairly high considering raised FSH therefore he has taken blood for a repeat oestrodial and immune testing.

Has anyone heard of immune problems causing POF?

Thanks in advance

Hi Jan

I am sorry to hear about your cycles to date,

I am no expert but from what I have read some immune problems have been linked to POF. The main blood test that can be used to determine if this affecting you is the anti ovarian antibody test. As I understand it having these antibodies can also be a predictor for other immune problems as well. Hope this helps

Best wishes

Thanks for your reply...

From looking at the blood form it just asked for immune screening so hope they would be testing for a variety of markers of immune disorders.  I have had problems with my knees for years but have never done anything about it and a recent injury to my knee has exascerbated the pain in both knees. I'm having an MRI scan Tuesday for that too! Now that immune disorders have been mentioned I am now looking for things!

Sounds like you have a busy time coming up. Are you having your tests at the Lister?

Good luck

Having test with local consultant as a gynea patient but cons he is also fertility specialist there.  Until now no one has mentioned that the POF could be immune disorder and do tests for it.
