Hello everyone,
Dear Alison - so very sorry to hear about your experiences in your first treatment, it must have been very disappointing and frustrating. I'll keep everything crossed for you this time.
Dear Katrina, I completely understand how you feel re your friend, the jealousy I feel when I see complete strangers with babies is unbelievable. It is a primal thing I think. I think we are completely normal to feel like this. Only a few of my mates have children luckily but I have still been really cutting down the amount of time that I spend with them as I just find it so hard to cope with.
Dear Woo, I'm not really sure how the acupuncture works but I can feel it so strongly that I have no doubt that something is going on. I've thought about it myself and come to my own totally made up conclusion which is that when you have a wound, the blood rushes to that point to heal the wound and therefore by creating several very tiny wounds in a number of places, the acupuncturist is making the blood flow around your body in a different way to normal. As blood flow is so crucial to the uterus, perhaps that explains why so many people believe that it helps with fertility and IVF. But... as I've said, I've made this up so don't quote me! Makes sense to me though.
For example my acupuncturist sticks a (very thin) needle in my foot and I can actually feel a sensation in my tummy. Very wierd! It feels very powerful and as if your body is being re-tuned, I can't think of any other way to describe it really. My acupuncturist has apparently treated 8 women who were having IVF and all of them are now pregnant. There was a German study done which claimed that it doubles the chances of IVF working. The needles don't hurt at all. I find it so relaxing and I feel so good afterwards that I think I will continue with it even when I step off the IVF treadmill. I just really look forward to it, it is such a treat. I would really recommend it if you fancy it. I pay £30 a session every two weeks which I suppose is quite a lot but then nothing near what I used to spend on booze and **** in the good old days. There is a certain type of acupuncture which is particulary suited to IVF, I can't remember what it is called now but can check if you are interested.
Sorry I'm rambling on now, you've got me on my favourite subject! So much so, I was actually thinking of changing career and studying it but then my dh pointed out that I'm far too clumsy to be let loose with a load of needles.
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend, take care and speak soon.
Much love, luck and best wishes.
H
