Hi Ruth, I have read conflicting advice about shellfish during pg.  I have read to avoid it alltogether, or just not to eat it raw, like sushi.  I'm planning to cook scallops at a dinner party at the weekend.  Can I eat them?  I think in the UK you call them something different - is it scampi?  You know, the white and yellow thingies in the pale pink shells......

Thanks.

Hi Megan

My midwife told me I could only eat shellfish at home where I could ensure it was properly cooked. She commented that things like prawns in restaurants are often only cooked so that they just turn pink and aren't fully cooked.

I must admit that once I got to almost full term I did eat some prawns but they were fully cooked.

love & hugs

Hello
My consultant said it was OK to eat shellfish as long as it was thoroughly cooked!
