HI All,

I have been sniffing Synarel for the last 2 weeks which i believe rests the body, i am now due to start injecting Gonal F tonight and carry on sniffing, but that seems strange to me as I thought Gonal F made the follicles grow where as Synarel stops them.... Any ideas until i call the clinic tomorrow??

Thanks
Sarah

hi hun

am not 100% but I think you sniff all the way through to EC, as it stops our bodys natural hormones, and then the gonal f is a measured amount of hormone put into your body, i think it helps keep an eye on exactly how much hormones we have.

hope that helps hun

Hi Sarah

Synarel does shut your reproductive body down so that your ovaries are inactive. When this has happened you use the Gonal F to stimulate your ovaries into producing as many follicles as it can in one go (super ovulation). Normally your ovaries would only produce a couple of follicles at the most but this way there can be many giving you the optimum chance of getting enough eggs to work with. It also allows the clinic to have a more accurate time of when the eggs will be ready for collection rather than just go with your natural cycle.

Good luck for the coming weeks and beyond  ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^

Hi

As already mentioned, the Synarel suppresses your ovaries and puts you into a temporary psuedo menopausal like state...you then have the baseline scan which should hopefully show that there is no activity in your ovaries, no developing follicles (or cysts) and that your womb lining is nice and thin.  You then start the stimmulating drugs eg Gonal F, to boost your ovaries back up and hopefully produce lots of follicles (normally you would only have one dominant follicle in a natural cycle).

The reason that you continue to sniff the Synarel at a lower dose, whilst in the stimming stage, is to prevent your body from ovulating prematurely.

During stimming (and in a natural cycle too but obviously lower levels), the developing follicles produce oestrogen which encourages the womb lining to thicken up.  If the oestrogen levels rise too much then they can induce the pituitary gland to trigger ovulation...so by taking a GnRH agonist (eg Synarel) at a lower dose, during stimms, this helps to prevent this happening as obviously wouldn't want to ovulate before EC !

Hope that helps
Good luck
