Hi I hope you are okay.

I am asking this question on behalf of my brother and his girlfriend who are expecting their first baby on Dec 29th. They have asked me about the test for strep B and I wondered if you could help with their query. If you test positive for strep B will you definitely be given antibiotics during labour to prevent the infection passing to the baby ?? do they only give it if you ask?? or does it depend on different hospitals??? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

You should be given it as routine in every hospital, it shouldn't be just if you ask for it,
Hope this helps,
