Did any of you do the course and was it worth it? We had specifically asked when we booked, to go on a course with other couples who already have a child but the leader called today to say we're the only ones who are already parents. She didn't instil any confidence at all and just said that for the bits about handling a new baby, nappies, etc we could sit somewhere else and she would give us some other things to think about! She said the morning would be useful as it covers labour and birth of twins. I explained that I'm having an ELCS, it's booked etc and she snorted and said "oh lots of ladies say they're going to have a section but then they go into labour and it's too late." Er, no. No way. So on balance, this course doesn't seem for us. I've asked for a refund but they're trying to get us on a course at a different venue with couples there who already have children. So has anyone been on it? What did you get out of it, esp stuff related specifically to twins and a sibling?

Hi Hollybags - not quite the same, but DH already has children from a previous marriage (grown up though). He was relectant to go on a course as he had done the NCT thing before, however I persuaded him to go on this one. He did say he found it useful - particularly things like feeding 2 and the latest advice on what to do and not to do - although this seems to change all the time.

I think some of it also depends who is actually taking the course - the lady who ran mine in E. Grinstead was a Doolah and a midwife who also worked in a number of families with twin mums - she had experience of working with twins and other children together. We also had a twin Mum come in to talk to us - she had a toddler as well - if they organise it in a similar way it could be helpful to you.

Not sure if they are able to provide you with more detail on who is running the course and their experience and whether anyone else is coming in to share their own experience??

Hello Karenanna!
That sounds a lot more useful than the way the course was described to us by this particular leader. I think TAMBA subcontract some of their courses to an independent provider who doesn't necessarily have a very twin focussed perspective. The lady we spoke to didn't seem convinced either that the course would be useful and at £139 it needs to represent good value. They're calling us tomorrow to see can they fit us in at another venue. I appreciate advice changes but T is still a baby himself so all our NCT stuff is still very fresh for us - it's the business with siblings which is most relavent to us.
