Hi all,

I'm very new to the whole IVF scene. I have my first consultant appointment next Monday.

We get one free go on the NHS, but I'm just curious. How much does IVF generally cost if the NHS go fails and you have to pay for yourself?

Thanks,
Kez

Private but on the NHS? - I'd say 2.5k if they operate a non profit facility.

The best people to ask are the NHS clinic that your cycling with.

I paid £2300 at Jessops NHS, Sheffield which offer non profit ivf tx.  This covered everything, no hidden costs.  This is a lot cheaper than many private clinics.

Godd Luck.

If it makes you feel any better, I have just cycled with ARGC, and it cost £6k up to preg test.  I did have ICSI which adds about £1000, and ARGC are known for being pricey because of their treatment regime.  Just gives you a bit of context when you are shopping around.

Hi,
Had a NHS cycle at hammersmith hospital , which is a big research IVF NHS hosp. They also do the same treatment , in same place and facilities privately, for about 4K( maybe a bit more depending about how much drugs needed as this is the variable), which is what we are doing next.

Hi & welcome to FF :)

We paid £2.5k for our full ivf cycle...these costs included all scans during downregging/stimming, sedation for EC & obviously the ET procedure...plus up to 3 years freezing of any good grade embies (as only allowed to replace 2 embies if you're under 40), as well as follow up appt with consultant and if required 1 session with counceller.

This didnt include the HFEA fee which I think is something like £109 - can't remember off top of head !!

Also had to pay for the drugs which although having private treatment our GP funded on nhs (our pct allows 2 funded nhs ivf treatments and if having private treatment will fund 2 lots of drugs)...you would need to speak to your local PCT about this...there are several posts already discussing this if you do a quick search of the boards....instead of costing around £1000 for drugs it cost us £39 and still got some left over !!

Good luck ^reiki^ ^reiki^

We are doing our next cycle at ARGC and have budgeted up to £10,000 all told. I have done 2 cycles in Europe, and they were about €3400.
