I'm 6 weeks 3 days pregnant and having discharge. This started on 5 weeks 3days and I get it on and off. It's kind of light brown or dark yellow and sometimes watery, somtimes more mucusy, sometimes has teeny tiny wee bits of mucusy stuff, somtimes not. It's only when I wipe and as I said not every time, but some days maybe 5 times some maybe once. This has been going on a for a week now. I phoned the nurse but she said it can happen and to wait for my scan (12/6 still 2 weeks one day away). She said to phone if it gets heavier or is red. She also said that it's better to wait for scan as by that stage they know exactly what they're looking for and should see heart beat (I'll be 8 weeks 5 days then). I have cramps on and off - not too sore though. Still have sore boobs.

I'm not taking cyclogest anymore as after the 2ww my hospital said that the hcg should take over and if not the cyclogest would only prolong something not working (this happened to me last time). So I agree better not to prolong.

But can anyone give me advice - has anyone had this for this long? If it was bad news would it not have become heavier by now?

Hope ypu can help as I'm getting so depressed.

Thanks,

Cat

Hi catt

so sorry you are having this worry.

Many people get this and everything is fine.  I had this in both my pregnancies (with very different outcomes so it really doesnt necessarily mean anything as such in my experience.  Though I was petrified when I got it this time).  In fact I had an emergency scan at 11+6 this time as there it was again and was told that it happens more often than people realise.  I am sure other people who have had this and even worse (I know of 2 from my clinic who bled bright red for weeks and were ok) will come on and talk to you soon.

As for the cyclogest I was still taking it when I mc my third tx and was only on it for the 2ww for this pregnancy.

If only we could have a crystal ball (or specialised x-ray machine to see inside 24/7). Please hang in there it definitely doesnt necessarily mean things are not right

sending you lots of  ^reiki^ as I know only too well how scary it is being pg after mc.

There is a pg after loss thread on here somewhere. Are you on there at all?  I cant locate it atm but will have a check again...

Hi,

You do get all sorts of discharge when you are PG - as I have found! Mine has [TMI alert here!] ranged from clear to greenish through all shades of white, cream and yellow and as long as it isn't red, smelly or itchy, is not normally anything to worry about.

Thanx guys,

I read so much stuff and some says as brown can be blood, albeit 'old' blood, it can mean the worst and it's been going on for a week now so that's why I'm worried. But it would get worse if it was bad news wouldn't it?

It would be wrong of me to say it would definitely get worse if there was a problem although this is obviously most likely.

All I can reiterate is there are loads of people who have had a myriad of coloured discharge...right up to bright red....and been fine..

Hang in there.

Thanks EBW1969 and Viking Girl.

Has anyone else had discharge that sounds similar to mine? Aaagh - think I will have to phone tomorrow and request an earlier scan.

I had loads of yellow/brown/yucky discharge with Amy. Its due to the increased blood flow to that region of your body and is perfectly normal. In fact its a good thing as it is said to be one of the ways your body stop infections getting 'further up' so one of my consultants told me.

Unless it starts to smell horrid, or is accompanied by severe cramping (i.e. not a twinge but an "oh my god" cramp) I wouldn't worry too much (easier said than done though I know!) ::)

HTH's a little.
Congrats on your BFP
