Hi

I was hoping people could offer me and my partner some advice, we really need it. Before I start we are now in the mid 40s (Please spare us the age lecture!), and we done a 3 cycle egg collection last year when 44 with Create. We'd had an ectopic 2 Years ago and on dominant overy side, so the tube removal op basically left us infertile.

We done one fresh cycle a year after ectopic with GCRM that failed, at the time we had 4 follicle collection, 3 fertilised and went all the way to 5 day, with 2 being excellent grade. Needless to say 3 got put back and that was the end of it. Personally I don't think putting 3 follicles in at once is a good thing.

We then went to do the 3 cycle collection with Create doing natural modified (I think that's what they call it), One of the cycles got cancelled as I think there was only 2smaller follicles. Adding that onto the fact that you have to take a AF break cycle between collections, and we had a holiday in between, this took us best part of a Year to do all the collections.

We went for the first transfer a Month ago and it also failed, this time we had progesterone support pessiries (Never seemed to get any of this at GCRM), and partner was also using progynova. Scan showed a triple layer, doc said everything looked good and he mentioned to my partner a few times we seem to have really good results more like an early 30s than what you would expect for a 40+ - not sure if they just say this to make people feel better.

We got 6 eggs all good enough to freeze, with some of them top quality. Initially decided on putting 2 back per transfer but then changed that to just one. A few things to mention though is my partner seems to have borderline hypothyroid, got checked a couple of years ago and it was just over 4. Have been taking thyroxine since, we have booked in with doc to get another check to see what this is now at.

On this transfer my partner didn't have early period or anything or bleed, just tested exactly 2 weeks later, then had start of period 3 days later. I asked if she'd experienced any symptoms during TWW and she mentioned "A couple of twinges" now I know that could be anything, I get twinges all the time!

I'd read agates learn from your failed cycle, such a comprehensive list of things. Is there a new thread for this as the one I read seems to end in 2012?

Also taking:
5mg Folic
Daily vits (Vit D3, Fish oil etc.)
AMH last Year was 6 & 11 a Year before that.

Just wondering if there is any other tests we could get done, ones the docs could do first to save cash, and anything else we should consider. What makes me think something is amiss is we aren't even getting any sign anything is working (Implanting), even a chemical at least we'd know it was trying to implant.

Thanks

Grifter

Hi,
I'm not massively knowledgeable but we were in a similar position when we were on our 4th round (although we did have an implantation in round 2). One option could be to ask your GP to test for any underlying autoimmune disease, mainly to rule it out. I think it's testing for ANA's...anyway, I found out I had ANA's and AMA's specific for an autoimmune disease. I had no idea was diagnosed and see a specialist every year. It was a total surprise to me.
Our consultant then put me on the max dose of steroids (prednisolone) for our next round and I became pregnant very easily.
Just a thought. It's free at least!
Wishing you lots of success
xx
