Hi There,

I am completely new to all this and am wondering where to start.

My partner had a vasectomy over 10 years ago and at the time it was done one testicle was damaged, although as far as we know the other was tied without any probs, and he had healthy swimmers until then.

We would like to try to have a baby which is biologically ours and our GP has basically said "there are treatments available but we can't help you here".

We've done lots of research on the net & alike, and it seems ours best chance is through ICSI.  As far as we know I don't have any fertility probs - although I've never tried for a baby so wouldn't necessarily know if I did have any.

Where's the best place to seek medical advice?  We picked out a few private clinics/centres, so is it now up to us to book a consultation?  Are there any recommended centres?

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Hi there and welcome to Fertility Friends,  You could find a clinic by visiting the following link which allows you to search by postcode. If you are happy with the ones that you have already selected then simply post the name on here and I'm sure that someone out here will be able to give you some inside info on your choice. Hope this helps,

^goodluck^ on your journey,

Hi Katie  Welcome to FF!

Where do you live?

My DH had vas 8 years ago, we didn't bother to have a reversal as we discovered I needed ivf anyway.  Reversal by a specialist centre may still be an option.  Otherwise SSR would seem likely.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Bubbygirl & Lollypop,

Thank you both for your replies.  We live in the South West (Gloucestershire) and were looking into the New Life Centre in Bristol (for it's closeness) and the Bridge Centre in London (his favourite after reading the info).

We looked into getting a reversal at the specialist centre up in Hartlepool but both of us felt the odds of success in our case were too slim.

I've just had a peek at your link, Bubbygirl, thank you.  We'll have a good look once I get home from work tonight.

Thank you both & good luck to you too,
Katie x (27)
