Hi everyone
After 3 unsuccessful IVF's & at the age of 43 we are reaching the end of our journey . We have an appt re donor eggs this week . I also want to look at alternative therapies . I am taking all the Vits & angus cactus , have had acupuncture during cycles . I have heard about Dr Zhai's clinic & sent for some info , which has impressive figures . Has anyone been ? tried treatments ? had success ? Would appreciate any comments , as it' will be a big comittment as I'm no where near London . Worried about were I draw the line !!

Hi Dollyz!

I have also been investigating the same thing! I have just failed my 1st attempt at IVF and don't know if we can go through it again or afford it!

I eventually got hold of the clinic and the receptionists was 'too busy' to answer my questions, just wanted to send me a brochure. I did ask when the next available consultation was and was told March next year!

I am however, impressed by the results from the clinic and am investigating local practitioners. It must be the same treatment you just need to find a reputable doctor.

Good luck!

Hi Francesca
Blimey - March for an appt ! I think I'll ring tomorrow & see what they say . I've got a brochure & to be honest it's not cheap & probably with the consultations , herbs , train fares will be about £ 300 / mth !! Why is this all so expensive ??
Good luck to you

Hi ladies,

I went to Dr Zhai's clinic a couple of year's ago. Dr Zhai is a lovely person, very calm. The acupuncture was relaxing. You have to boil up the herbs daily and they smell awful though they taste isn't so bad once you get used to it. We went for four months but in the end found the cost prohibitive. Dr Zhai recommended we saw her every couple of weeks which meant £80 consultation fee each time plus about the same for the herbs. We just ran out of money. I think the figures sound good, but haven't actually met anyone yet who has been successful.

Good luck though.

Hi all,

Well I am a Dr Zhai success.  In my eyes Dr Zhai can do no wrong.  She is a lovely person, takes a bit of getting used to her manner as she can be quite abrupt, but she is very genuine about wanting to help people achieve their dreams of getting pregnant.

I start ttc about 4 years ago.  After 1 yr I fell pg naturally but sadly m/c at 12 weeks - then nothing.  After 18 months we went down the investigation route, and was put firmly in the unexplained category.  After 7 failed cyles of clomid, 2 failed IUIs I didn't know which way to turn.  I was against IVF until I had explored all avenues, because I couldn't bear the stress of going through that especially as nobody had told me what was actually going wrong.  So I investigated alternatives and was recommended to Dr Zhai.  As everyone has said, she doesn't come cheap but my logic was that an IVF cycle was going to cost me £3,000ish so I would spend some of the money on this route instead.  Dr Zhai worked out about £350 per month (I used to see her fortnightly).

Anyway, I started my treatment with her at the beginning of December, and my P was due around Christmas, well that came and went and nothing, so tested and couldn't believe it, I was pg.  Sadly this ended in m/c.  Dr Zhai was brilliant about it all, she said that she needed some time to work with my body and get it ready for a pregnancy so asked me to have 3 months of treatment without ttc - which I did.  So along came April and we started trying again.  Well at the end of April, no P again and once again I was pg.  I am now 27 wks pg and feel really well, haven't suffered many of the pregnancy symptoms and generally seem to be sailing through.  I put this totally down to Dr Zhai, whatever is in that horrid drink you have to boil up twice daily and force yourself to drink it does work.  I have heard many success stories from her clinic from this website and others I look at - I personally cannot recommend her highly enough.

If you want to ask anything about it, please feel free.

Hi Emma
Congrats on your pg , your story is really encouraging . I suppose I'm worried that at 43 I'm just clutching at straws , however in her info she does work with women in their 40's . I rang for an appt & couldn't get one until March - maybe that speaks for itself .

Ive recently been given a article on a clinic in Harley st called the zhai clinic
www.zhaiclinic.com
It really got me interested so i thought id share it with u guys ^gossip^
Its a holistic clinic that helps infertile men and women to conceive using chinese medicine herbs and acupuncture. ^spot^
It can help raise sperm count, deal with pcos, endo, and lots more(take a look at site!)
It can be used along side assisted conception or on its own.
The article i read was a independent one (it seems) and it has got good reviews,
has anyone else heard of it?
Ive sent off for a brochure and think i will give it ago,im not sure of the prices yet but its harley st so no doubt i will have to have my right arm amputated!  ^scared^ hmmm cant wait, paying to take foul tasting medicine and to get jabbed with needles! (wot r we like!) lol
I will keep updated if any one is interested?!?
lots of luck and laughter to all ^fairydust^

Hi Ems

AM GLAD TO BE OF HELP ! HER  INITAL APPT CHARGE IS APPROX  120   POUNDS - EACH SESSION AFTER ( ACUPUNCTURE ETC ) IS 80 AND THE HERBS WORK OUT AT ABOUT 200 PER MONTH . THE WAY I LOOKED AT IT IVF IS EXPENSIVE SO I FELT HAPPIER TRYING THIS GIVEN THE STATS THE CLINIC HAS .

I TRAVEL ALL THE WAY FROM SCOTLAND AND ONLY NEED TO SEE THE CLINIC ABOUT EVERY 5 WEEKS OR SO - THERE ARE CLIENTS WHO COME FROM ABROAD ALSO - QUITE A JOURNEY !

ANYHOW I FEEL VERY HAPPY WITH MY TREATMENT SO FAR .LET ME KNOW IF YOU DECIDE TO GIVE IT A GO .

BEST  WISHES ,

Hey everyone and sorry to bother you.

Does anyone have any experience with the Zhai Clinic at all, any stories whether good or bad would be much appreciated.  I received a brochure from them and their success rates look amazing but the prices totally shocked me, it is work it?

Thank you so much to anyone who took the time to read this and to any who responded.  Wishing you all a totally brilliant 2006.

Best wishes and love to you all.

Hi, my friend goes there and has been for about 18 months... it is costing her £450 pm for acupuncture where the needles get hooked up to a battery and the two carrier bags worth of herbs she has to choke down each day... and she's not pg yet.

The thing I don't like about it is that she tells me Dr Zhai doesn't like to discuss details with patients.  You hand your problem (and your money) over to her and she makes all the decisions without explaining anything to you.

My friend however would never give it up - she has complete faith in it and I hope really hope with all my heart that it works for her.

Hi there,

New to the chat world but wondering if anyone has been to see Dr Zhai?

Any thoughts and advice would be greatly received.

Thanks

Hi Anna

Yes I went for several months and had both herbs and accupuncture.  Appointments were roughly every 3-4 weeks and although it wasn't cheap I think it helped us become parents by improving my general wellbeing and the quality of my eggs.  On the advice of my clinic (ARGC) I stopped taking the herbs during the actual tx cycle.

Lasting effects have seen my circulation and skin have both improved quite a bit so I think bloodflow in general must be better.  I also find I have more energy despite low blood pressure.

Good luck
Sheila
