Please we need some help urgently.  7th go of ivf bfp and 6 weeks ans 2 days pregnant.  My wife has a small amount of dark blood on her pad, no pain or anything etc. Would this be the start of a miscarriage?  We are very worried.

If its brown blood then that's old blood so unlikely to be a miscarriage,  bright red blood is more of a concern but is also very common in successful pregnancies too, you can get random bleed sites that don't impact on the pregnancy.  In my personal experience (sadly I've had quite a few miscarriages) period  like cramps accompanying bright red blood loss are the time to worry. If it's just spouting with no pain and its old blood fingers crossed she'll be fine.  If she's worried at all is your clinic open over the weekend for a check or do you have an early pregnancy unit at your hospital).  At 6 weeks 2 days she is pregnant enough to see something & hopefully be reassured by a scan.

Take care

Hello

Congrats on your pregnancy

It is common to have a small amount of bleeding during early pregnancy and the fact it's dark indicates the fact it's old blood which is a good sign, if it gets heavier or is fresh red blood or your partner is in pain then do contact your local EPAU or clinic

I know how worrying it must be after so many cycles

Sorry to hear you are going through this.  ^hugme^

Although, yes, brown blood is old blood... but blood is blood. Ive heard more cases of it been ok after bleeding brown blood but there has been cases where the outcome wasnt good... including mine.

The fact that she isnt in pain is good thing. I would see how you go. I will say, if it was me.. i would be more inclined to pop to the EPU in the morning for reassurance if anything.

Good luck xx

Looking at the timing we must have been writing pretty much the same thing (but in our own words) at the same time :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you

Would your GP or clinic do you a HCG blood test to put your mind at ease?

Sending you lots of positive vibes... We are going through a BFP rollercoaster ourselves and at exactly the same stage, it is so so tough... Big hugs...
I can only echo what everybody says - bit of bleeding throughout pregnancy is very normal for lots of women!

If you are really worried you could get an early scan - they should be able to see the sac and the yolk and maybe the fetal pole and maybe the heartbeat, but latter two also can show up later - so it might not help at all... You could also get HCG bloodtest, but you would need a couple and to be honest the scan will be more reliable, but has the uncertainly as described above at the moment... You are probably better of waiting a week if you can bare it, but if the stress is too much then would advise to just go for it!

I wish you strenght and patience and faith - unfortunately it will have to play out and you cannot do a lot about it, bar supporting each other, eating some nice stuff and watching crappy TV to try to relax as much as possible?! X

I don't think the worry ever stops, I had positive tests from 11 days past donors egg collection but I was worried they weren't dark enough so I paid for private blood tests to put my mind at ease waiting for the scan, I had 3 @ £75 each but a lot of GPs will do them free

Just think with every day that passes your % chance of anything going wrong will be dropping each day so do try to relax and try to enjoy it

I was neurotic about mine and with reason as mine didn't work out but I think it's human nature for us to always fear the worst

Keep us updated

That's sounds positive that there hasn't been any more blood.  Good that you have the 7 week scan only a few days away  by that stage if all ok you should be able to see a heart beat so keeping fingers crossed for you both

Great news and sounds like she's on track with that, symptoms for me tended to kick in around 7 weeks. One word of warning queasiness can come and go this early on, so if it does (easy to say but) try not to let it worry you, not long now until scan. Good luck

hey conchoo  - also been following you through the good and bad (we are also at the Lister ) and had our BFP not long after you (28.12.15). We are now also having our downs! Hope it all works out for you and pls let us know on Wednesday. has your wife been injecting progesterone ? x

Hi KDJAY

Great news for both of us then, the Lister is great isn't it, very posh and clean, nice staff. Lovely lunch as well on the day!

Yes she is injecting Geston into her ****! ouch massive needle, that runs out soon and we have decided that as she has tons of the suppository of progestone (cyclogest) she will just use that instead (nasty stuff) but the Gestone is quite expensive think the last lot was about £400ish for a months supply, and money reserves are at an all time low!

Cheers

1st scan couldn't have gone better, looks perfect. Liz the scanning lady (who is beyond excellent by the way) explained everything in great detail. Its 9.1mm in length and is 7.1weeks old so spot on with growth,  it is at what it should be at. Fingers crossed for the next hurdle harmony test at 10 weeks.

Cheers
