Hello.

I have just recently had ovarian drilling for pcos. I got my first period about 5 days after operation, is this good news???? Or should I expect that. I did have a little bleed for about two days after operation. Has any one had this treatment and should I be hopeful of a good out come! When I was first diagnosed with pcos I was prescribed with clomid which did not work for me. I then tried injection, still no joy, so my consultant advised me to have ovarian drilling. I am just really wanting to know if IVF if the only way forward for people with pcos.

Any replies would be great, and if there is any one needing to ask me questions about any of the above please feel free to ask.

Take care

Hiya Maz

welcome to fertility friends

I had ovarian drilling back in october 2002

prior to that my periods were every 8-12 weeks obviously reducing my chances of conceiving

After the op my periods became every 27-31 days length hence ovulating more often and an increased chance of conveiving

There are lots of ladies who have conceived without the need for ivf

Wishing you lots of ^fairydust^

^hello^ Maz

I'm due to have my drilling on April 2nd and am feeling a bit nervy about it I must say!

How did you feel after - was it too bad or ok really ??

I have PCOS and am having the drilling to get me to ovulate ... but I already have regular 28 day cycle periods - I was under the impression that just because you have a period doesn't necessarily mean you've ovulated, you still need a day 21 test etc ... can someone clarify please?!?

Also, I think that you should expect a good result as I've heard that drilling has about an 80% success rate, so here's some  ^reiki^ ^reiki^

I'm hopeful that we won't need to go as far as IVF, but it's always an option eh?

Can you tell me if you had to take any drugs afterwards? You say you'd had Clomid and an injectable beforehand but what about now? I only ask as my consultant has said I will have the drilling then go back on Clomid for a bit.

Thanks and all the best to you  ^fairydust^
