Hi

This is a very frequently asked question (at least once or twice a week ! ;) ) so maybe try using search tool and you'll find 100's of threads discussing it.

there's also a "sticky" thread on 2ww board called "2ww - Frequently Asked Questions" which has info about pineapple juice...

http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=87948.0

Drinking pineapple juice is thought to aid implantation because it contains selenium which is an anti oxident mineral. Selenium helps encourage a healthy womb lining, so subsequently it's thought to be beneficial for implantation.

Drinking any pineapple juice is fine....fresh, pressed, from concentrate, not from concentrate......it's eating fresh pineapple that is best avoided......but if you're going to drink juice then the fresher the better (as with anything !!)

Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain and this is contraindicated during pregnancy as it may cause uterine contractions. This enzyme is destroyed during processing (canning, juicing pasteurisation etc) so this is why drinking the juice is ok.

Juice from concentrate just means that it's been freeze dried at source and then hydrated with water at place of import.

Pineapple also contains manganese which is a mineral and is also an anti oxident, again beneficial to us when ttc and when going through treatment.........but pineapple isn't the best source of selenium....brazil nuts have the highest amount.

You only need to drink maybe 1-2 small glasses of pineapple juice and have a handful of brazil nuts per day.

Ultimately it's only a descision you can make based on all the information you read.

Take care
Natasha
