I am just wondering as my SMP has stopped now, and im starting to panic there is no way im mentally fit to go back to work and im sure my doctor would agree...

however does the govt recognize PND as a illness? Would i be able to get some sort of sickness benefit?

Hi hun,

Yes, PND is a recognisable illness. Your GP will probably be more than happy to sign you off sick if you ask him.

With regards to money, it depends on the company you work for what you are entitled to. Some companies have occupational sick pay for employees who have been with them for more than 3mths. The amount you get and for how long you get it again depends on your company and length of service.

Otherwise, there is also statutory sick pay. It's not much - about £80 a week. But, if you've managed on SMP for this long, another wee drop won't make that much of a difference.  ;) Statutory and occupational sick pay get paid into your wages automatically when you get paid. You just need that all important sick note from your GP.

Hope this helps huni.

No bit ashamed of even having to do this... I know i should work but the thought of it at the moment is making me puke... ive lost a stone this week thinkinga bout it the anxiety etc.

Im just hoping my GP agrees. I am under the mental health teams advisment now I am seeing anurse and have been reffered to pyschology but that takes 6 weeks for an appointment so im just seeing the nurse led system until then. once a week
