DS is in a 1 tog with vest (recent addition) and sleep suit or long pyjamas but last night he fell asleep in the car in his clothes so was in T shirt, vest and 1 tog and was freezing in the middle of the night - had to come in with mummy to cosy up  ;D

Dinky d - We have a 3 tog sleeping bag from TK Maxx and you can get higher togs online as well though can't remember where I saw them sorry  :-[  Our last house was freezing at night and if the 3 tog was in the wash I even, on the coldest of nights, put LO in a fleece sleep suit in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag.  An extra blanket didn't work for him as he does gymnastics in his cot  ;D  The 3 tog is very snuggly and cosy though - great for very cold nights.

DD is in a 2.5 tog and long sleeved PJ top with PJ shorts. Will add a vest underneath and long leg PJ bottoms when it gets colder and long sleeved vest and sleepsuit with feet at its coldest.  :) I did have her in a long sleeved vest only and 1.5 tog throughout the summer or when her room temp is over 20 degrees. When we did have that hot spell back in June it was 1 tog plus short vest or just nappy.  :)

how bad do I feel...dd2 has just been sleeping in a sleepsuit..no vest or gro bag :-[

think will go get a new gro bag tomorrow, apparently our local stockist is selling them off cheap at the mo to make way for new stock ::)
Mae my DS was only in a vest and sleepsuit all the time through Winter and Spring until he moved into a big boy bed aged 2.5! He wouldnt use grobags at all and moved so much he wouldn't keep a blanket on ::)

DD is currently in longer sleepsuit (without feet!) no vest yet and in 1 tog. In colder weather she'll move up to a vest and long sleepsuit but use the same tog. I find 2.5 too much in a centrally heated house.

The mornings are getting colder though, DS has to snuggle in a blanket when he gets up and has his milk!

Have to say I got out my 2.5 tog bag last night and it felt so thick. I put her back in long sleeved pjs and 1.5 bag.

It is cold in the mornings - I normally end up putting the heating on for an hour.

she's still in short sleeved T shirts with vests though during the day but can't see that lasting very long.

Absolutely freezing up here, we've had heating on all weekend. DD has been in 2.5tog with long sleeve sleep suit for over a week now. We did go down to 1.5 over summer and I think there might have been 1 or 2 nights with no grobag  ::) We've had an absolutely  ^swear^ summer up here though. Spent 1k + getting the garden converted from slabbed patio to new patio and grass on the back of the Met office prediction of a BBQ summer  ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^ wonder if I can sue them for it back  ???  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm about to hunt out our winter weight duvet today for us too  ::)

Archie sleeps in a vest, babygro and 2.5 tog - he woke the other night crying and since changing tog he has slept through again.

Not very warm here in Wales.

Can you get higher than a 2.5 tog?

M won't tolerate her gro bag anymore, so is in vest, PJs with feet, one celluar blanket and summer quilt until mummy gets her big girl winter quilt and pillow this weekend.

H is in vest, babygrow, 2.5 tog gro bag, and mummy has had the heating on this week as it's been a bit chilly!!!  ::)

Mae don't feel bad, it really depends on how warm your house is!!  Aimee's bedroom is still 23 degrees (no heating on!), I have her in a babygro and a 1.5 sleeping bag, i've only just put this on in the last few days when it dropped from 24/25 degrees!!

My DS's room has been going down to 16-17C overnight recently, so I've put him in a long-sleeved vest under his sleepsuit, and a 2.5tog bag - he's waking up a lot at night anyway, and I don't want it to be because he's cold.  If it gets any colder in his room I think I'll buy extra thick fleecy sleepsuits.  Anyone else finding it chilly at the mo?!

It is quite chilly now.

My DD is in 2.5 bag now with long sleeved pjs or a baby gro.  The heating now comes on at 6.30 so its nice and warmish when she wakes.

already in short sleeve vest, babygro and 2.5tog sleeping bag, use a long sleeve vest when it gets really cold.  We have a cold house, even with central heating on!! He sleeps so much better the warmer he is!!
I will be putting my second quilt in my 2 part quilt this weekend, hate being cold,

Does anyone use blanket as well with grobag.  Our house is freezing so 2.5 ok at the mo but won't be warm enough mid winter.

If you look in your red books there is a page that give the tog values of vests, babygrows, blankets etc and tells you how to calculate a comfortabe cover for your baby. I found it very helpful.

My girls (at 4!) are still in grobags (age 3-6 ones) and I use a 100% wool blanket over the top. They wear just PJs now, and are still in their 1 tog bags, but I'll change them tomorrow now I've read this  ;D. In the winter they wear a vest, too, and when it's really cold, a cardigan as well!
Their room is quite cold in the morning as on the NW corner of the house, so I do wrap them up more than I would if they were i a warmer room

Hi

I have been putting DS in a 2.5 bag, vest and pjs or babygrow, my problem now is he keeps taking his bag off, its been on 3 times tonight, that said everytime i go in to him in the morning hes wearing just a nappy  ;D

what age do you normally quit with the growbags
i was about to buy the 18-36m ones but not sure now if he wont wear them
think might try him tomorrow with his quilt and see how he goes oh i dont know

another question is...... can you use a gro bag when they move to a bed ???

My boys are in 2.5 or 3 tog bags (depends which is in the wash) and wear a vest and a sleepsuit (the type with feet), they were still waking up crying at 3am ish when the temp dropped so now also have a fleece blanket (doubled over and a coverlet/quilt thingy on top off the bags) they are a pair of cold morsels! They still wake up with cold hands and faces, they did have another blanket, but then they were waking up really pink and flushed so we took them off. And we have had the heating on too! We are in a detatched property near the sea, and it gets cold!! The temp was 15c in their room at the weekend!

If anyone finds higher tog bags please let me know!!  ^pray^

E have you tried gro-bags with different fastenings on them? We have got some from Ikea - cheaper than normal grobags but v warm (used them camping and just started to use them at home now it's got chillier not sure of the tog rating am guessing 2.5) but the best thing is they zip up upside down, ie you thread the zip under their chin and when it's done up the zip ends up by their feet. Meaning it's difficult for a little person to unzip/climb out of! They're really bold colours and designs too..we had loads of comments when we went for a stroll at night when camping & the babies were snuggled up in them.

Shame you weren't closer otherwise you could've borrowed one to "try before you buy". ;)
